A second-tiered triad member vying aggressively for the position of godfather is restrained by the current mob boss who isn't officially eligible for reelection. This leads to a bloody and cutthroat battle of wills between the two men, carried out in a shocking and ultra-violent fashion culminating in an ending that will take your breath away! The recent elections in Egypt and Russia have important lessons for both Washington and Beijing about the limits of authoritarianism and Western-style liberalism. Beijing must be concerned about how neither the Kremlin nor Egypt’s military could “guarantee” the election results. The Ace Ventura Deluxe Double Feature offers both Pet Detective and When Nature Calls in anamorphic widescreen with soundtracks in Dolby 5.1 and (not indicated on the packaging) DTS. The original DVD of Pet Detective was full-screen (1.33 aspect ratio) only, though it had a scene with Ace masquerading as Hans Kissvelvet, the dolphin trainer, that was dropped from the theatrical release. The deluxe edition is missing this scene. The deluxe edition also has a third disc with three episodes (about 70 minutes total) from the 1995-96 Ace Ventura animated series with Michael Hall as the voice of Ace. --David Horiuchi

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was the 1994 box-office hit that turned comedy maniac Jim Carrey into Hollywood's first $20-million man. This gag-filled! no-brainer stars Carrey as the titular rubber-faced gumshoe w! ho track s down lost pets for his heartbroken clients. Ace's latest case involves the apparent kidnapping of the Miami Dolphins' team mascot, Snowflake the dolphin (natch), and his investigation is a source of constant irritation for Miami police lieutenant Lois Einhorn (Sean Young). Friends fans will appreciate the presence of Courtney Cox, who remains admirably straight-faced as the Dolphins' publicist and Ace's would-be girlfriend, but of course it's Carrey who steals the show with shameless abandon. --Jeff Shannon

In When Nature Calls, the inevitable sequel, the disappearance of a rare African white bat, draws Ace (Carrey again) out of his spiritual retreat at a Tibetan monastery following the tragic outcome of his previous case. That traumatic experience, which makes for a hilarious opening-scene send-up of the Stallone thriller Cliffhanger, prompts Ace to venture to Africa, where he goes native with the tribe that hired him to find their symbolic! bat. From that point anything goes, with Carrey pushing the boundaries of good taste (what, you were expecting good taste?) up to and including his now-infamous "birth" scene from the backside of a mechanical rhinoceros. Lighten up, and don't be ashamed if you find yourself laughing. --Jeff Shannon

Frequency is really two different--though inextricably linked--movies. First, the emotional drama of a father and son reunited after 30 years of separation. Then there's a science fiction thriller, in which a couple of chance solar storms, occurring exactly 30 years apart, can provide the agency through which the father and son can communicate using the very same ham radio in parallel time frames of 1969 and 1999. The son is John Sullivan (Jim Caviezel), a cop, and his father is Frank (Dennis Quaid! ), a firefighter who died on the job when John was 6, which just happens to be tomorrow for Frank when he and his now-adult son begin talking across time. This is great for John, because now he can warn his dad about the upcoming fire and avert the catastrophe that left him fatherless for most of his life. Accomplishing this gives John new memories of his life with Dad, but unfortunately alters the course of a serial killer, with tragic effect on John's family history. Since John's a cop, and the case he's working on turns out to be the same unsolved case from 30 years before, he and his father work together over the ham radio to solve the case and hopefully avert the tragedy that befell their family.

Time-travel stories have always been problematic, demanding either an extra degree of credulity on the part of the audience or an extra level of explanation on the part of storytellers, which is invariably cumbersome. Frequency handles the troublesome time parado! xes by having John explain how, having altered his past, he no! w experi ences both timelines, as if he's had two pasts that converge in his present. And as changes continue to be wrought in John's past, we see him becoming more and more confused. No doubt the audience can sympathize, at least those of us who try to follow the ramifications of the rapidly accruing time fractures. Luckily, the bond between father and son is so strongly realized in the deeply felt performances of both Caviezel and Quaid that you don't even need to consider the science fiction elements in order to enjoy the film. But if you can suspend your disbelief long enough to allow for the possibility of time shifts, you'll have a far richer experience. --Jim GayBecause we see the world from a physical perspective, we often don't notice what's right in front of us â€" that our spirit, thoughts, emotions, and body are all made of energy. Inside us and everywhere around us, life is vibrating. In fact, each of us has a personal vibration that accurately communicates! who we are to the world and helps shape our reality. Frequency shows readers how to feel their personal vibration, improve it, and use it to shift their life from ordinary to extraordinary. A simple shift in frequency can change depression to peace, anger to stillness, and fear to enthusiasm.

Weaving together basic ideas from quantum physics with proven intuition development techniques, Frequency takes readers into deeper concepts only hinted at in recent popular books and DVD's featuring the Law of Attraction. By learning to refine the "conscious sensitivity" of their body, readers can improve relationships, find upscale solutions to problems, and materialize a life that contains everything they want and need to live their destiny.

Frequency gives readers a reassuring, step-by-step roadmap into a positive state of awareness that Peirce calls The Intuition Age. By learning to use "frequency principles" â€" methods based on the way energy actual! ly functions â€" readers can keep their energy level high and ! producti ve, receive subtle information directly from the environment via "empathic resonance," and quickly free themselves from negative or low "vibrations."In this fantasy thriller, a man is given an unusual opportunity to change the past and alter his future. A man whose father died 30 years ago when he was just a boy, makes a startling discovery when working with his ham radio one night: he can speak with his late father over the radio. Having inadvertently found a way to reach into the past, the man desperately struggles to warn his father of the dangers that will come his way, in hopes of changing his tragic fate.DVD Features:

How do you tune into your own unique God-given frequency? What if you could figure out a way to live intentionally on your frequency instead of having accidental moments with God or trying to live life on someone else's? This book will help readers unpack the power that can happen when they discover their own unique frequency and live on it. Your life shines, you sense God's presence in your life, people notice, and it inspires them to do the same. This book was created by the developers of Monvee.com, an online tool that helps people discover how they are uniquely wired to grow spiritually. Many of the nation's largest churches and Christian universities use Monvee to help individuals in their organization determine their frequency.

A renowned intuitive and visionary shows you how to know what you need to know ju! st when you need to know it.

Intuition is not a rare gift that only a gifted few possess but an innate human capacity that can be enhanced and developed. Synthesizing insights from psychology, East- West philosophy, religion, metaphysics, and business, this hands-on workbook in the tradition of Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, can teach anyone to achieve a heightened state of perceptual vitality and integrate it into daily life. Intuition, writes Penney Peirce, is “not the opposite of logic,” but rather “a comprehensive way of knowing life that includes both left-brain analytical thinking and right-brain communication states.” On a practical level, intuition enables us to learn faster and make quicker, more inspired decisions. On a deeper level, it “is a powerful tool that can heal the painful split we all feel between our earthly, mundane selves and our divine, eternal selves.” Widely praised in its earlier editions, this new edition of The Intuitive! Way, with a Foreword by Carol Adrienne, will introduce Penney! Peirceâ €™s pioneering work to a whole new readership.Frequency is really two different--though inextricably linked--movies. BABYLON AD (SPECIAL EDITION) - DVD MovieConfusing and chaotic, Babylon A.D. was said by its director, Mathieu Kassovitz, to have been heavily cut in order to obtain a PG-13 rating. Whether or not that e! xplains why the film feels so thin on story details and heavy ! on oblig atory explosions, is hard to say. What is clear is that the film is mildly enjoyable if one just focuses on the non-stop action. Vin Diesel plays Toorop, a futuristic mercenary living in Eastern Europe and eating unappetizing critters. A gangster named Gorsky (Gerard Depardieu) engages him to transport a girl, Aurora (the spooky-looking Melanie Thierry), and her chaperone, a nun named Sister Rebeka (Michelle Yeoh), from Russia to New York, taking a route over the top of the world. With no idea what's so special about Aurora, Toorop soon encounters some inexplicable facts. First, Aurora has a wild passion for helpless people, including the poor, refugees, etc.--so wild, she has to be contained at times. She also has a strange genius for understanding such things as handling the controls of an old submarine, which she has never been done before.

Over the North Pole and down into America, Toorop is drawn into a battle for possession of Aurora fought in Manhattan's streets. ! The combatants, it turns out, are more or less Aurora's parents, who have very different reasons for wanting something special she's carrying within her. The complicated story is never truly clear, making it hard to sympathize with a downbeat ending or enjoying a sophisticated support cast including Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Depardieu and Lambert Wilson. Diesel is his usual laconic and enjoyable self, and his performance as a hit man who settles somewhat into a makeshift family with Rebeka and Aurora is as touching as his fighting skills are still impressive. --Tom Keogh

Once you settle into the realization that this 1986 John Carpenter (Halloween) film is not going to be one of the director's more masterful works, Big Trouble in Little China just becomes a full-tilt comic blast. Kurt Russell is hilarious as a drawling, would-be John Wayne hero who steps into the middle of a supernatural war in the heart of Chinatown. While kung fu warriors and otherworldly spirits battle over the fate of two women (Kim Cattrall and Suzee Pai), Russell's swaggering idiot manages to knock himself out or underestimate the forces he's dealing with. The whole thing is dopey, but it's supposed to be dopey and Russell's game performance brings an ironic edge. Divine Intervention

  • DIVINE INTERVENTION writer-director Elia Suleiman has been compared to Woody Allen and Charlie Chaplin, presumably because he has Allen's intelligent, self-deprecating humor and Chaplin's gift for silent comedy. DIVINE INTERVENTION is not a silent film, but an intensely quiet comedy about daily life in the West Bank and Israel. Suleiman provides a series of not-altogether-related vignettes
For 1500 years, Christians have used “sacred reading” or Lectio Divina as a way to tap into the power and vitality of God's Word.Author and youth pastor Tony Jones explains the four steps of Lectio Divina:

• lectio (reading)
• meditatio (meditation)
• oratio (prayer)
• contemplatio (contemplation)

• Includes 12 lectio divina exercises with passages from The Message Remix
